AFTER CARE

Unless we specify otherwise,

  1. 1.Please take the top off the vine 2 weeks after grafting has been completed, about a hand span above the bud or 1 node on small vines

  2. 2.Cut on an angle so that any sap runs down the back, away from the bud

  3. 3.String up

  4. 4.Remove all suckers

  5. 5.After 2 weeks, remove all suckers except for the very highest one which hopefully is above the graft. Keep this until graft is well established, then it can be removed. Should the bud fail then this shoot will become the preferred site for a replacement graft

  6. 6.Use a tape gun to secure the new shoot to the string. BUY ONE, they only cost about $90 from your local farm supplies or Maliky.com.au

  7. 7.Continue to remove suckers and tape shoot to string......

Here is an example.

The bud had been rubbed out, so the grower has trained a sucker which became  the site of the replacement graft.

8. Please ensure that your vine trainers are trained correctly. We will charge again for all but the buds which are intact and have not grown, provided that tops have been cut off at the right time and your trainers have not trained suckers from the back of the tape by mistake.
